NEOPRENE IN FASHION

Invented by DuPont scientists on April 17, 1930, Neoprene (trade name used by DuPont Performance Elastomers.) or polychloroprene is a family of synthetic rubbers that is used in a wide variety of applications, such as in wetsuits, laptop sleeves, orthopedic braces, fly fishing waders, .etc. Lately Neoprene has been appearing in a lot of designers’ collection, from accessories to clothes. Using his clever use of proportions and great knowledge in fabrics, Yohji Yamamoto blended technical fabrics like neoprene and active sports looks with his own color palette and arty and edgy dimension and end up producing amazing and brilliant modern clothes.

Ooooh, that's a great idea. A neoprene sleeve for my nalgene or coffee mug would be really cool. I think compact bag, made from light neoprene material, offers optimal protection for sensitive display screens. I think every collection is too good. thank you for shearing your post.

Great list of designers using neoprene, very helpful in my research. A few extra names to add Junko Koshino started using it in her A/W 1988 collection and Maria Cornejo recently used it in her S/S 2013 collection.
